BluRain (Ying-Lam Chi)
Storytelling is a major aspect that I value through my illustration practice which has always helped me in expressing my inner emotions and finding calm and comfort in the illustration-making process. Through my illustrations, I like to express my emotions, opinions, and values freely and honestly.
I mostly explore themes of mental health and belonging in my work. The concepts behind my work often come from my interpretation, thoughts, and emotions on my experiences with my surroundings. I convey messages of my storytelling through colors and symbolisms that represent certain meanings through themes of fantasy and imaginary objects. Through this, I aim to encourage my audience to look and reflect on the small details, to discover and explore the deeper meanings and messages behind the facade of fantasy in my illustrations.
